Q. How do I backup and restore onto media that does not support NTFS permissions?

A. If you are not using database permissions, then DO NOT DO THIS. If you need to back up an ArtiSan store like this you must maintain the permissioning information. If you lose this permissioning information, you will either deny end-users access to their mail or allow everyone to see everything. If your backup tool does not support NT permissions, you should use NT Backup or a similar tool to make an archive that has the NT permissions for the files embedded in it and then backup the NTBackup (*.bkf) archive. This is not the case if you are using database permissions.
